We wear T-shirts that say "Long Live Small Towns." It's not just a catchy phrase, it's what we embody at That Place.
Our story
We are not a chain of restaurants, we're a local family, hiring local students and for some, it's their first job and first paycheck. So when you comment we're a daycare, if that means we take care of the kids who are part of families in our area, then yes we are and our kids work here too.
Our mom still helps us in the kitchen. Making hand-made tortillas for brunch and rolling silverware. Our dad helped build and refinish the bar and mom helped hand-wash the tile you walk on.
Our friends have helped us build and remodel this place and we are forever indebted to their kindness.
We have a mascot too and his name is Al. He looks over Al's Lounge. It's not a political statement, but it's a message all the same. Elephants stay together as a family and protect their own. They also happen to bring good luck. So if you're looking for a larger political message, you won't find one.
We are people that support our small town and we love the other fine people who offer delicious cuisine in our community too. They might be our competitors, but together we all make Mukwonago a great place to dine!
So why the name? We love to travel and we love to eat, but sometimes we can never remember the name of where we went and so began "That Place." Especially to our location in Mukwonago; our restaurant has been a lot of things over the past fifty years, so if you ask anyone in town that's lived here awhile, they will likely say, "oh you mean that place?"
